Ralph S. Smith, Jr. is an American psychiatrist critical of trans health services. Smith is a member of Rethink Identity Medicine Ethics (ReIME).
Background
Ralph Silas Smith, Jr. was born in 1942. Smith graduated from Riverside Military Academy in 1959, then earned a bachelor’s degree from West Virgnia Univeristy in 1962. Smith then attended Northwestern University, earning a master’s degree in communications, an MBA and a medical degree. Smith did a psychiatry residency at University of Cincinnati from 1967-1971.
Smith served in the West Virginia Air National Guard from 1975 to 2001, rising to Commander and Assistant Adjutant General. Smith then served as the medical director of Wells Fargo Disability Management from 2004 to 2011. Since 2014 Smith has been medical director of CPG, Inc.
