Bret Weinstein is an American biologist, podcaster, and anti-transgender activist. Both Weinstein and spouse Heather Heying are members of the so-called intellectual dark web, described as a gateway to the far right.
Background
Bret Samuel Weinstein was born on February 21, 1969 in Los Angeles. After transferring from University of Pennsylvania to UC Santa Cruz, Weinstein earned a bachelor’s degree in 1993. Weinstein met future spouse Heather Heying there. Weinstein earned a doctorate from University of Michigan in 2009.
From 2002 to 2017, Weinstein taught biology at Evergreen State College in Washington State. A major conflict involving the school’s progressive faction led to a legal settlement with the college and the 2017 resignations of both Weinstein and Heying.
