Mary Leng is a British philosopher and anti-transgender activist.
Leng’s anti-trans writings were permanently removed from Medium for being “in violation of the Medium Rules.”
Background
Leng earned an undergraduate degree at Balliol College, University of Oxford. Leng earned a doctorate at University of Toronto in 2002.
Leng taught at University of Cambridge from 2002 to 2006, then University of Liverpool from 2006 to 2011.
In 2007, Leng co-edited Mathematical Knowledge with Alexander Paseau and Michael Potter. In 2010, Leng published Mathematics and Reality, a defense of mathematical fictionalism. Leng joined the University of York in 2012.
Anti-transgender activism
Leng co-authored an anti-trans piece on Medium with Sophie Allen, Jane Clare Jones, Holly Lawford-Smith, Rebecca Reilly-Cooper, and Kathleen Stock. The piece was removed by Medium for violations of their anti-transgender policies.
