Vivian Jenna Wilson is an American media personality and activist. Since coming out as transgender in 2020, Wilson has been a prominent generational voice in transgender politics.
Elon Musk is Wilson’s unaccepting parent, and Wilson’s transition is a frequent talking point in Musk’s anti-trans activism. Musk claims Wilson is “dead […] killed by the woke mind virus.”
Background
Wilson was born on April 15, 2004 and has a twin sibling, Griffin. Wilson also has triplet siblings Kai, Saxon, and Damian. Parents Justine Musk and Elon Musk divorced in 2008. Wilson attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. Wilson began transition at age 16 in 2020. At age 18, Wilson petitioned for a name change, stating “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
Elon Musk biographer Walker Isaacson described Wilson as “an angry, rebellious child, blinded by radical anticapitalist ideology and hurting her father with her rash decisions.” Wilson called Isaacson’s book a “sad excuse of a puff piece,” adding that Isaacson never sought comment from Wilson before publication. Wilson also said the book was “genuinely defamatory” in trying to portray Wilson as a “villain-origin backstory.” In a 2025 cover story for Teen Vogue, Wilson said Isaacson “had an agenda when writing his book, which was to make Elon look good, or look more complex than he is. In order to do that, he needed to villainize the trans teenager and make it seem like there were two reasonable sides to the story.”
Wilson moved to Japan to study languages.
