Jeremiah Johnson and transgender people

Jeremiah Johnson is an American neoliberal activist who appeared on anti-transgender podcast Blocked and Reported. Johnson then hosted Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog on The New Liberal Podcast.

Background

Johnson was born in 1987 and attended University of Georgia, earning a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.

While working as a consultant for Ernst & Young and an analyst at NPD Group, Johnson got involved in the r/neoliberal reddit forum. According to the forum, neoliberalism is “the belief in capitalism, globalization, and some government intervention to promote the efficiency of the market system and to redistribute wealth.” The group was designed as “a place to discuss policymaking online that wasn’t captured by left or right-wing populists.”

The Neoliberal Project was founded in 2017. In February 2020, the Neoliberal Project joined as a new initiative of the Progressive Policy Institute, a centrist organization. Johnson co-founded the Center for New Liberalism. In June 2020, the Neoliberal Project was reorganized as project of the newly created Center for New Liberalism

Johnson has written for several publications, including Infinite Scroll, the NY Daily News, Liberal Currents, Arc Digital, and The Hill.

Johnson hosts the New Liberal Podcast. In addition to having trans reporters Katelyn Burns and Riley Dosh on, Johnson has had on a number of people criticized for their views on trans people including Destiny, Ross Douthat, Matt Yglesias, Katie Herzog, Jesse Singal, Jeff Maurer, Jonathan Chait, and Hamish McKenzie of Substack.
