David Weigel and transgender people

David Weigel is an American author. Weigel appeared on anti-trans “drama” podcast Blocked and Reported.

Background

David A. “Dave” Weigel was born September 26, 1981 in Wilmington, Delaware to George Alex Weigel (born 1947) and Eileen H. Weigel (born 1951). George Weigel dropped out of a psychology doctoral program to work in private sector information technology and security. Eileen was George’s second spouse. Weigel’s younger sibling Philip is an anti-money-laundering analyst.

After George Weigel landed a three-year assignment based in the UK, Dave Weigel graduated from American Community School in Cobham, Surrey, then attended Northwestern University. Weigel was editor of anti-trans student paper the Northwestern Chronicle, reportedly after being turned away from mainstream paper The Daily Northwestern. Weigel supported the Iraq War and disrupted an anti-war protest. Weigel interned at the right-wing Center for Individual Rights before earning a bachelor’s degree in 2004.

Weigel chronicled the conservative movement the “Right Now” column for the Washington Post.

Weigel was a compulsive Twitter user, which led to criticism in 2010 after Weigel attacked conservative journalist Matt Drudge as well as critics of marriage equality.
