David Brooks vs. transgender people

David Brooks is a conservative cultural critic, part of the anti-trans columnists at the New York Times Opinion section.

Background

Brooks was born in Toronto and grew up in wealthy suburban Philadelphia. Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Chicago in 1983. After covering crime for City News Bureau of Chicago, Brooks joined the conservative National Review. Brooks later worked for the Hoover Institution and wrote film reviews for the Washington Times. He wrote for the Wall Street Journal from 1990 to 1994, then joined The Weekly Standard.

Brooks joined the New York Times in 2003.

2024 Cass Review column

Brooks praised Hilary Cass after the Cass Review of trans healthcare for minors was published.
