Liz Truss vs. transgender people

Liz Truss is a British politician and anti-transgender activist.

Background

Mary Elizabeth Truss on July 26, 1975 in Oxford. Truss earned a bachelor’s degree in 1996 from Merton College, Oxford. That year, Truss joined the Tory party, then began running for office in 1998.

Truss and Hugh O’Leary married in 2000. In 2004, Truss had an 18-month affair with Conservative MP Mark Field, which was later revealed in the press. Truss and O’Leary have two children: Frances (born 2006) and Liberty (born 2008).

After working for Royal Dutch Shell and Cable & Wireless, in 2008 Truss joined center-right think tank Reform.

Truss was elected as an MP in 2010, served as education under-secretary from 2012 to 2014, the environment secretary from 2014 to 2016, then justice secretary and lord chancellor from 2016 to 2017, then chief secretary to the Treasury from 2017 to 2019, then internaitonal trade secretary from 2019 to 2021, then foreign secretary from 2021 to 2022.

In 2022 Truss was appointed prime minister on September 6, two days before the death of Queen Elizabeth. Truss served until resigning on October 20, after which Rishi Sunak assumed the role.
