Katie Herzog and transgender people

Katie Herzog is an American artist whose work often focuses on gender. In 2014 Herzog created a series of 48 portraits of notable transgender people.

Background

Katherine E. “Katie” Herzog was born in 1979 in Palo Alto, California and earned a bachelor’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2001 and a master’s degree from the University of California, San Diego in 2005. Herzog’s work has been written about in publications including the New York Times, Hyperallergic, Art and Cake, the Huffington Post, and Artforum. Herzog works for the Monterey County Free Libraries and teaches drawing at CalPoly San Luis Obispo.
